چکیده

As a flexible way to accommodate a variety of services, a number of spreading bands are now considered in International Mobile Telecommunications-2000 (IMT-2000) systems and more than two (overlaid) bands can be operated simultaneously in CDMA systems. Capacity estimation in CDMA systems is an important issue in performance analysis and call admission control (CAC), which is closely related to power control. This study derives the reverse link capacity of signal-tointerference ratio (SIR)-based power-controlled overlaid multiband CDMA systems in single and multiple cell environments. The weighted-aggregated data rate is introduced as the link capacity, which can reflect different spreading bandwidths and different QoS requirements. Various combinations of 5, 10, and 20MHz subsystems are compared to one another in view of the maximum weighted-aggregated data rate. The impact of pulse shaping on CAC and the effect of multiple traffic accommodation on link capacity are also investigated. key words: overlaid multiband CDMA systems, SIR-based

Capacity Analysis of Spectrally Overlaid Multiband CDMA Mobile Networks

The future (third-generation) mobile communications system will provide not only voice and low-speed data services, but also video and high-speed data services. It will eventually have the capability for wireless multimedia communications. As a radio-access technique for such a system, the code-division multiple access (CDMA) has been considered in many potential third-generation systems includ...

Power-control-based Band Allocation in Multiband CDMA

Multiband CDMA is useful for constructing DSCDMA (CDMA) systems over a non-contiguous spectrum. The method by which users are assigned to their respective frequency bands, termed ‘band allocation’, is an important part of assuring good performance in multiband CDMA systems. This paper proposes a novel approach to band allocation based on the transmission power as it is adjusted by power control...

Capacity estimation for a multicode CDMA system with SIR-based power control

Capacity estimation in code division multiple access (CDMA) systems is an important issue which is closely related to power control. Strength-based power control has been assumed in most analyses in which other cell interference was considered as a known and fixed variable. However, in signal-to-interference ratio (SIR)-based power-control systems, power control and other cell interference are ...

Capacity estimation for an SIR-based power-controlled CDMA system supporting ON-OFF traffic

Capacity estimation in code division multiple access (CDMA) systems is an important issue which is closely related to power control. Many previous studies assumed strength-based power control, which maintains received power at a desired level regardless of changes in the number of active users and in the amount of total other cell interference. However, in signal-to-interference ratio (SIR)-bas...

Capacity Estimation for Sir-based Power Controlled Cdma System with Mixed Cell Sizes

In heavily populated areas, cell splitting used to increase the capacity of the cellular system. Cell splitting produces a cellular system with mixed cell sizes. Many previous studies assumed strength-based power control, which maintains received power at a desired level regardless of changes in the number of active users and in the amount of total other cells interference. However, with signal...
